Abstract
nt for managing Design Thinking projects. In fact, most Design Thinking literature refers to using a time timer to time box Design Thinking activities. However, beyond that recommendation no further tools or methods are discussed by research and literature. As creativity is an important aspect in Design Thinking we also looked at research on time management and creativity which suggests that time management can have a positive effect on creativity and project outcomes if done “right”. With this research we aim to find out how time management is currently practiced in Design Thinking projects and activities and when and how it is done “right”. Therefore, we aim to understand the current practices of time management within design thinking projects and activities by undertaking a series of expert interviews with experienced design thinking practitioners and coaches from education. We are interested in the tools and methods they use when managing time as well as problems they see with existing techniques and obstacles for planning activities in Design Thinking teams. Evaluating the information gained in these interviews will help to understand the time management needs of project participants, and will enable the identification of common practices for time management in design thinking processes.
